Seraffix started Phase I clinical trials that will include 15 patients. A clinical batch of the protein component for the trial was prepared and released by PPS.
Seraffix is developing the Laser Tissue Bonder (LTB), an automated laser device for the bonding of soft tissue. The LTB is possibly the first tissue closure device based on laser activation of protein and the first automatic closure manipulator for multi layer- depth closure. The LTB is able to conveniently and quickly attach two sections of tissue together with a strong, even bond which is reliable, leak-tight and waterproof. The laser soldered bond enables wounds to heal with much less scarring than occurs with either traditional closure methods or existing tissue adhesives.
The Seraffix LTB comprises two elements:
1. Robotic device with CO2 laser and special optics - capital equipment
2. Special wound dressing kit with protein spraying system – consumable
The LTB activates technologies of laser, protein sprayer and manipulator in a sequenced and integrated way controlled by computerized software. The LTB creates a multi-layered tight bond by activating a biologically safe protein bonding agent that is introduced directly into a wound site in stages.
Mr. Ofer Fridman, CEO of Seraffix (left), receives the released batch from Mr. Eli Shachna, QA Manager of PPS.
